023- DreamSuite [prod. shemar & Messiah Musik] ((MADNESSSUITE prod shemar + Dreamin' prod Messiah Musik))
Every January 3rd for the last like 4 or 5 years, i've dropped something to commemorate my birthday. This year, I bring you a couple particularly special tracks that have helped push me past the past and into the present like no other songs I've made have. 'MADNESSSUITE [prod shemar]' is a flip on a couple songs on 'WON'T HIDE THE MADNESS;, my first album from back in 2021. As I've been gearing up to release my 25th (I think?) project in 2025, I reminiced and created this powerful talisman of courage. 'Dreamin' [prod Messiah Musik]' is a song about keeping the dream alive, inspired by working with literally someone I've looked up to- a person who's music has inspired me and been in rotation since middle school. There may or may not be more to come with both of these kind folks. shemar is a 1 of a kind legend who I am honored to call a homie. They reached out in 2022 sometime to talk about Bridge of Sand and I's album 'The Abstraction of Squandering Thoughts' and we've stayed in touch ever since. They've been on quite a run, dropping one of my favorite EP's in 2024 w Child Actor. Messiah Musik is a new homie I met through my OG Bloodmoney Perez soon after I dropped 'THE LOVE GARDEN ZENDO' a couple years back, but someone who I've been following since the release of Armand Hammer's 'Race Music' back when I was in like 7th or 8th grade. He's produced for some of my favorite rappers like Mach Hommy, Rome Streetz, and billy woods as well. This track came about on a whim, I guess I am a good rapper or something and people like my music and my personality, and we cooked this track. Messiah Musik is such a kind soul too, a very down to earth and humbling human. I aspire to be as authentic in my real life as both of these collaborators. The cover art is a collaboration between Grey Locke and Midwest Zed (find em both on Insta), who cooked up a drawing together for the 2024 King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Chicago Marathon Tour. Grey then reverse carved it detail for detail onto a block of wood, inked the mother fucker and stamped it onto some prints. The cover art is of one of the prints! You can find the lyrics and a jpg of the cover art, along with the the wav files of MADNESSSUITE, Dreamin', and DreamSuite-- a combined version of both of the former tracks. It felt right to do, and I added an extra vocal sample for cohesion's sake. Love you!
